Contracts Engineer

 
Responsible to:

Operations Director

Key Criteria:
  1. General & personnel management skills.
  2. Project financial management.
  3. Accurate conversion of project design to working system.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  1. General & personnel management skills
    a) General management skills including the ability to act with integrity, arrange personnel workloads, use sound judgement, drive for results and focus on customer needs.
    b) Ability to communicate with both customers and other employees within the company. c) Take responsibility for the attendance of regular contract meetings to establish project status and conditions.
    d) Ability to focus on site based customer requirements.
    e) Must be able to work under own initiative.
    f) Provide technical assistance to both customers and colleagues.
    g) Working knowledge of both contractual law and procedures.
  2. Project financial management.
    a) Ability to manage and exceed yearly financial targets.
    b) Maximisation of gross profit margins on individual contracts.
    c) Manage the financial and monthly purchases of equipment to eliminate stock carrying.
    d) Manage monthly contract ordering budgets with regards suppliers’ equipment.
    e) Ensure goods are delivered to site in the same month they are purchased to maximise the company’s cash flow. f) Monthly invoicing lists created for each individual contract.
    g) Provide leads to the sales department that may arise out of customer contact.
    h) Assist in chasing of unpaid invoices as instructed by operations director or financial department.
  3. Accurate conversion of project design to working system.
    a) Take responsibility as lead engineer for each project allocated and implement internal contractual procedures.
    b) Organisation and transition of contracts from handover to completion whilst achieving targets of quality, budget and timescale.
    c) Prepare and manage both electronic and hard copy contract files including all specific contract details, delays, agreements and financial documents.
    d) Provide support and equipment to other departments to meet their requirements.
    e) Provide support and equipment to customers to meet their site requirements and keep contracts running to program.
    f) Ensure correct procedures are adhered to with the implementation of contract variations and extras.
    g) Design of control strategies, point’s lists and system descriptions for commissioning team and operation and maintenance manuals.
    h) Assist in the running of other team engineers contracts during busy periods and holiday periods.
    i) Provide general technical knowledge and assistance to both skilled and unskilled customers, in appropriate detail. j) Provide assistance to both customers and future customers to achieve high standards of quality on contracts.
    k) Must be willing to provide additional hours of work to satisfy workload requirements.
  4. Personnel knowledge and training.
    a) Comprehensive knowledge of Health and safety legislation and application.
    b) Ensure a good and comprehensive knowledge of suppliers installed systems.
    c) Keep up to date with technological developments within our applied industry.
    d) Keep up to date with enviromental developments within our applied industry.
    e) Have good sound knowledge of HVAC principles of operation and how to correctly apply them to required systems.
    f) Attend when required training courses for personnel development or suppliers equipment.

 

Location:

Based within the Leeds office, but the job-holder may be required to locate because of business re-location.

 

Practical Requirements:

The role may involve: -
The job may involve extensive travel through the UK with frequent overnight stays required.
