Service Engineer

 
Responsible to:

Sevice Manager

Key Criteria:
  1. General & personnel management skills.

  3. Accurate conversion of project design to working system.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  1. General & personnel management skills
    a) General management skills including the ability to act with integrity, arrange personnel workloads, use sound judgement, drive for results and focus on customer needs.
    b) Ability to communicate and liaise with both customers and other employees within the company.
    c) Ability to focus on site based customer requirements.
    d) Must be able to work under own initiative. e) Must be able to manage designated workloads and budgets. f) Provide technical assistance to both customers and colleagues.
  2. Technical knowledge and know how.
    a) In-depth and working knowledge of building management systems hardware including networking, wiring and fault finding.
    b) Skills to carry out design, commission and fault find building management systems control strategies.
    c) Skills to carry out design, commission and fault find building management systems control supervisor software.
    d) Ability to test, fault find, modify and repair control panel or field wiring devices and equipment.
    e) Have good sound knowledge of HVAC principles of operation and how to correctly apply them to required systems.
    f) Ability to quickly learn and develop third party integration technologies and protocols.
  3. Accurate conversion of project design to working system.
    a) Be able to provide detailed service quote requirements to both present and future customers.
    b) Provide breakdown or call out cover during normal working hours.
    c) Plan and instigate on-site procedures to meet individual customer needs.
    d) Report progress and/or delays to office promptly to ensure client can be informed of any problems.
    e) Promptly prepare full servicing and site visit reports.
    f) Ensure correct procedures are adhered to with the implementation of service variations and extras. g) Able to make decisive on-site commercial decisions for the benefit of both customer and company.
    h) Provide general technical knowledge and assistance to both skilled and unskilled customers, in appropriate detail.
    i) Provide assistance to both customers and future customers to achieve high standards of quality on service contracts.
    j) Provide and target after sales service on newly completed contract works as directed through contracting department.
  4. Personnel knowledge, skills and training.
    a) Comprehensive knowledge of Health and safety legislation and application.
    b) Ensure a good and comprehensive knowledge of suppliers installed systems.
    c) Keep up to date with technological developments within our applied industry.
    d) Keep up to date with enviromental developments within our applied industry.
    e) Attend when required training courses for personnel development or suppliers equipment.
    f) Good time keeping skills.

 

Location:

Based within the Leeds office, but the job-holder may be required to locate because of business re-location.

 

Practical Requirements:

The role may involve: -
Extensive travel throughout the UK with frequent overnight stays required.
Frequent overtime and weekend working.
Occasional out of hour’s night working.
